Union vs. Non Union

CLC publishes study on the advantage of being unionized

Laval, August 30, 2012 – A study  published by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) shows that unionized workers earn $5.11/hour more on average than non-unionized employees. This union advantage translates into an additional contribution of $793 million for the Canadian economy.

The CLC study was based on data published by Statistics Canada in 2011.
“Canadian unionized workers represent 31.2% of all workers in the country but their payroll accounts for 35.6%,” explains Teamsters Canada president Robert Bouvier. “This shows just how much it pays to be unionized.”

Below are statistics on the union advantage throughout the Local Union #879’s jurisdiction.
